Stockan’s is among a number of businesses across the Highlands, Islands and Cairngorms National Park area to have been shortlisted for the Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Awards.
Speaking as she received the good news about their shortlist success, Moira Cairns, Business Development Manager said:
“Stockan’s is very proud of its Islands’ heritage so we are delighted to hear that our delicious Orkney Beremeal Oatcakes have been shortlisted in the Best New Product section of the Highland and Island Food and Drink Awards. Using Orkney beremeal, which is milled from the ancient grain bere, we have produced a unique tasting oatcake that has a subtle wholesome flavour and that offers a useful range of micronutrients. It is a perfect partner to cheese, smoked fish or simply enjoyed spread with butter”.
Judging took place at the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness with judges from across the industry. Judges included representatives from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), Scotland Food & Drink, caterers, chefs and current Ambassadors of the year, Jill and Callum Clark of Connage Highland Dairy.
The awards, now in their 12th year, are delivered with support from HIE.
