Run by The Guild of Fine Food, Great Taste is one of the world’s most recognised and respected food and drink awards. Thousands of entries are judged every year and it is a real achievement to receive the highly coveted GTA stars. All Great Taste award-winning products have been taste-tested by multiple judges, with only the best approved entries ultimately awarded stars.
This year's win, our 5th in 3 years, was a Great Taste Award 1 star for our newly launched Orkney Heritage Spelt Wheat, Herb and Pepper Oatcakes. This is another great achievement for all the hard work put in by the team.
The new Orkney Heritage range features ancient grains bere barley and spelt wheat alongside Scottish coarse ground wholegrain oats and rapeseed oil, with each product having its own unique flavour. They sit alongside our existing more traditional oatcakes, building on values of provenance, healthy choice and quality. Each oatcake features the traditional Stockan’s triangular shape, with the addition of an indentation that allows it to split neatly into two, making it easy to enjoy and the perfect choice for canapés.
The new range is already turning heads with the Great Taste Award for the Spelt Wheat, a bronze for the Bere Barley, Chilli and Cheese at Scotland’s Speciality Food Show and both are finalists in the The Great British Food Awards. Not a bad start!
